A Day to Celebrate Life

Statement

Today, Speaker Kevin McCarthy (CA-20) issued the following statement in support of life:

"I want to welcome everyone who has come to our nation's Capital for this joyous moment to celebrate a special gift from God: the right to life.

"This noble mission would not be possible without your voices year after year. It is even more meaningful this year as we mark the 50th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade, and the first year of a post-Roe America. While others raise their voices in rage and hatred, you march with prayers, goodwill, fellowship, compassion, and devotion in defense of the most defenseless in this country.

"With your help, we have a majority in Congress that is standing up for life. As part of the House Republican Commitment to America, we promised to protect the lives of the unborn and their mothers. We're keeping that promise. In the first week in the majority, we passed legislation providing medical care for babies who are born alive during abortions as well as a resolution condemning the violence we have seen against pro-life pregnancy centers, churches, and organizations. We will continue to work until these policies become law.

"As we celebrate these life-affirming actions, let us continue to raise our voices together in defense of life."
